AI Assistant

Original Workspace includes a built-in AI Assistant powered by Original AI. It chats with the assistant bot connected to your workspace and can look up and update your data on your behalf.

How it works​

  1. When you log in with your Original account, the assistant gets a secure per-user token
  2. The assistant acts on your workspace through the connection established in Settings — using your role and permissions
  3. Replies stream into the chat as they are generated, so you see the answer build up word by word

What you can do​

  • Ask questions - Query clients, projects, tasks, invoices, and more in plain language
  • Take actions - Create or update records through the conversation (the assistant only uses the actions your role allows)
  • Keep context - Continue a conversation; the assistant remembers what was said earlier in the same chat
  • See tool steps - While the assistant looks up or updates data, the chat lists each step as it runs
  • Dictate - Use the microphone to turn speech into the message box
  • Suggested questions - Start from the frequent-question chips when the chat is empty
  • Edit a message - Change a previous question; later messages in that thread are dropped
  • Confirm before actions - Optional toggle so the assistant asks before creating, updating, or deleting records

The assistant sees only the data your account can access. Actions that require an admin role are refused for non-admin users, exactly like in the app.

First-time setup​

The assistant works out of the box after you log in with your Original account. If your workspace uses a specific assistant bot, it is selected automatically.

If the chat reports that your session expired, log out and log back in. Tokens refresh automatically in the background, but a very old session may need a fresh login.

Tips​

  • Be specific: "Show unpaid invoices for Acme from this quarter" works better than "invoices"
  • For long or complex requests, break them into smaller steps
  • Anything the assistant changes is visible in the app immediately — review results like you would your own edits
